Helping You Cope

Coping with grief

Death creates strong emotions — and grieving is a natural process that eventually leads to healing. But we can’t always cope with our grief alone. Brainard Funeral Home offers the services of a certified bereavement support provider — Julie Nelson, CT. Julie contacts all Brainard clients to compassionately assist them in coping with their loss and will visit you in your home or at Brainard Funeral Home upon your request.

Julie is credentialed in the field of Thanatology — the study of dying, death, and bereavement, through the Association of Death Education and Counseling. She holds a degree in Sociology with specialization in family interaction, is certified in grief support through Marquette University College of Nursing, and has been trained in basic Critical Incident Stress Management.

Brainard Funeral Home also offers a Grief Support Group that meets twice monthly. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Everest Chapel.
