Brainard Funeral Home Staff

Scott Brainard has been a
licensed Funeral Director since 1973. He leads a staff dedicated to helping families honor their loved ones in the most respectful and loving way possible. Scott is an active member of the community who has served as President of numerous organizations including: Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Exchange Club of Wausau, and Big Bull Falls Lions Club. Scott has an active personal life that includes downhill skiing, scuba diving, and motorcycles. He is married and the father of two children.


Frederick Copa, a licensed Funeral Director, is a valued team member who expertly and with great compassion, handles all aspects of funeral services for Brainard. Fred is a Newman High school graduate and received his degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota in 1994. He is married and the father of two children.

Tom King is a licensed Funeral Director. Tom and his wife Char, a general dentist, have been Weston residents for over ten years. They have four grown children. Tom serves as an officer for the Wisconsin Valley Funeral Directors Association, the Wausau Noon Kiwanis Club and the Northern Wisconsin Houndsman Association. Hunting, traveling with his wife and being outdoors are some of his favorite activities.

Al Freiberg is a Brainard Funeral Home Assistant. He describes his job as assisting families and helping make the funeral flow as smooth as possible. He has directed many musical organizations over the past 40 years. He is also a Minister of Music at Saint Andrew Church, active in Community Theater and Director of the Center Stage Band and Show Choir. His greatest joys are his children and grandchildren.

Dennis Huntimer is a Brainard Funeral Home Assistant. He enjoys helping families and is dedicated to assuring that the details of the funeral service are handled professionally. Dennis holds degrees from South Dakota University and Xavier University, and is retired from general management positions at several major companies. He and his wife, Celia, have three grown children.

Dick Ostwald, Funeral Assistant, enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse, mainly in administration. He particularly enjoyed his involvement with Hospice Programs and the Bio-ethic Committee. He has been involved for many years as a lay minister in Mission Evangelical Bible Church and in Camp Blessing. His many experiences have prepared him well to assist in meeting the needs of Brainard Funeral Home families.

Denise Pansier is the Administrative Assistant in Wausau and the friendly voice you’re most likely to hear when you call Brainard Funeral Home. She is the mother of four and an associate pastor at Freedom By The Word Church.

Cheryl Falkowski is the Administrative Assistant in our Weston location. She is most likely the person who will greet you as you come through the door.  She is a long time member of Peace United Church of Christ. Cheryl is married to Greg Falkowski, the mother of three adult boys and the grandmother of four.

Jamie Sarver is our Certified Pre-need Specialist. She assists people with advance planning details. “It gives me a feeling of great satisfaction to help families achieve peace of mind with the gift of advance planning,” says Jamie. When not on the job, Jamie enjoys spending quality time with her family.
