When death occurs
- Call your clergy
- Call the Funeral Director to arrange the transportation of the body
- Confirm time and date of services with the Funeral Director and Clergy.
Keep in mind traveling family members
- Notify family and friends of time and place of funeral and services. (The
funeral director can assist with newspaper notification and the obituary.)
- Discuss with the Funeral Director:
- Type of service: church or funeral home, music selection
- Selection of disposition: burial, entombment, cremation
- Religious, Fraternal, or Military organizations participation during
the visitation, funeral or burial.
- Selection of casket, burial vault, urns and other items
- Clothing
- Jewelry or other special memorabilia
- Memorial request for a designated charity
- Obituary and radio announcement
- Talk to clergy about:
- Appropriate prayers
- Scripture
- Music
- Eulogy
- Choose a florist and decide:
- Types and colors of flowers from family members
- Distribution after service
- Contact monument company about monument purchase or engraving
- Ask the Funeral Directors to help you obtain certified copies of death
