David L. Laabs, 68, Schofield, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home of natural causes.
David was born April 21, 1950 to the late Emil and Ellen (Hoff) Laabs. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1969 and served in the United States Army as a MP in the Vietnam War.
David had a fondness for classic cars and his four-legged grandchildren Bandit and Bailey. He loved motorcycles and Nascar as well. David recently retired as an over the road truck driver from Kolbe & Kolbe.He had an avid interest in social media and the Barrett Jackson Car Auction. He was also a member of the American Legion in Wausau.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy (Jennifer) Laabs; daughter, Kaylee Laabs; grandchildren Elijah and Timberly Laabs; and cousins Jim and Jeff Schult. Also surviving is former wife and his children’s mother, Beverly Thoreson.
Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Pastor Lance Hoelscher of Mount Olive Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Military Honors will be performed following the service.
