Jude T. Martell, 67, of Schofield passed to eternal life at home on February 11,2019, with his family by his side and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice services.
Jude was born in Wausau on September 13,1951, to Norman and Rita Martell. Jude made his parents proud right at birth by being the 1000th baby to be born at St Mary's Parish in Wausau. A picture of his mother holding him as well as an article was in the Wausau paper.
Jude married the love of his life, Sue Ann McManamy on March 13,1971 at St Anne's Catholic Church Wausau. They raised three children, Julie, Peter, and Michael.
Jude worked in retail for many years. He later worked at Greenheck Fan for 18 years before retirement. He worked 3-11 shift which allowed him to do many fun things before heading to work
Jude loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. He enjoyed playing golf with son Mike, friend Dave, brothers and friends. He loved to play cribbage with family, friends, and parish members.
Jude enjoyed spending time with son Pete watching Packer games and "hashing over" the game results, and also sharing notes on the recent trinkets found at sales.
Jude loved going fishing with his kids, grand-kids, brothers and friends. He was an avid Packer fan and loved to go to estate and rummage sales looking for trinkets that reminded him of his childhood. Jude loved a variety of music, especially The Beatle's. Jude and Sue vacationed to England four years ago to walk across Abbey Road in London and visit The Caver Club in Liverpool, fulfilling one of his bucket list dreams. Jude loved to go bicycle riding with his wife Sue Ann, and vacationing to the Southwest and to visit daughter Julie in Colorado.
Jude proudly served our country in the Army National Guard for 23 years before retirement. Jude was a long time member of Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ (formerly) St James. He served faithfully as an altar server and sacristan for many daily, weekend masses, as well as over 500 funeral masses over the years.
Jude's greatest love and sense of accomplishment was his family he and Sue Ann raised. Jude was incredibly proud of his three children and nine grandchildren and loved spending time with them and showing his quirky sense if humor to make them laugh.
Jude is survived by his beloved wife Sue Ann, daughter Julie Martell, Colorado, Peter (Lisa), Kronenwetter, Michael (Amanda), Weston, nine grandchildren: Corinna, Caleb, Elise, Lillian, Gabriel, Damian, Kyle Lexi, and Zoe, Brothers: Paul Martell(Cindy) Wausau, Jim Martell (Linda) Chippewa Falls; Sisters: Mary Walters CA, Rita Kerswell(Steve) Weston, Angela Reynolds(Mitch) Wausau, sister-in-laws: Barb Burclaff(Ron), Dawn Foote(Carl), and Angela Meyer(Wausau), and many nieces and nephews and Father-in-law Robert McManamy (Florida).
