Allan Daniel Jirikovec, age 95 of Madison, died peacefully on January 5th, 2026. Allan was born to Edward and Anna Jirikovec in Manitowoc in 1930. He graduated from Lincoln High School, class of '48, and St. Norbert College in 1952, where he received his B.A. degree in philosophy. He continued his education in theology at St John's Seminary, Collegeville, MN, and was ordained a Catholic priest in St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay, in 1957.
He served the people of the Diocese of Green Bay as parish priest in Green Bay, Two Rivers and Omro. He lovingly cared for the sick and dying as a chaplain at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc. After 15 years of priesthood, he resigned in 1972 to marry the love of his life, Rita Delmore.
Allan and Rita and her five children then moved to Wausau to start a new life. Allan worked a variety of occupations but liked to think of himself first and foremost as a married priest.
He was an active member of St. Anne's Parish for many years where he and Rita were active in RCIA. For their last several years in Wausau, they worshipped at Our Savior Polish National Catholic Church, where they felt at home and where Allan was accepted as a married priest. The pastor there, Father Marion Talaga, became like a son to Allan and referred to him as "Monsignor".
Allan was a proud member of the Alano Club for many years and fondly called it "an oasis in the desert, a lighthouse in the storm, a holy place where miracles happen."
Allan and Rita enjoyed a long retirement with many cruises and worldly travels, making new friends wherever they went.
Allan is survived by his stepchildren: Margaret Delmore (John), Ruth Diaz de Leon (John), Michael Delmore, Bruce Delmore and Paul Delmore (Laurie), plus 5 cherished grandchildren: Ali, Tony, Tim, Rachel and Ryan.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-John and LeRoy, and his beloved wife, Rita.
A Mass of Christian Hope to celebrate Allan's life will be held at Our Savior National Catholic Church (804 Jackson St, Mosinee) at 11am on Friday, January 30th with visitation starting at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior National Catholic Church in Mosinee or the Alano Club of Wausau.
