Dec 7, 1951 — Jul 4, 2026

Mosinee

Allan Wayne Johnson, age 74, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at his home in Mosinee, with his loving wife by his side and under the care of Compassus Hospice. He was born on December 7, 1951, to the late Robert and Ila (McCumber) Johnson in Madison, WI. Al attended and graduated from high school and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting. He met the love of his life, Nancy Louise Ranum, and the two were united in marriage on February 3, 1973 in Mount Vernon, WI. She survives.

Al was an installer for various sound systems, and enjoyed working on computers and electronics. He was very good at solving issues with them and helped everyone he could. He had an incredible smile and was very friendly and outgoing. He made friends wherever he went. Al’s passion was broadcasting for local radio stations, which he did for many years. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bicycle, often times, to and from church, and was dedicated to his church, Fellowship Baptist Church, where he assisted with wiring and some of their sound system needs. Al had recently been driving bus for Lamer’s part-time. He was an active member of the HAM radio organization, and enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow radio co-workers. Al will be sadly missed, but his love and personality will live on in family and friends who knew and loved him.

Al leaves behind his wife: Nancy Johnson, son: Nathan Johnson and 2 grandsons: Mason and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Andrew Johnson and an infant sister.

The funeral service for Al will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1130 Field Road, Kronenwetter, WI 54455. Pastor Brent Moodie will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, also at the church. The burial will take place on a later date at the Perry Lutheran Cemetery in Mount Horeb.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations in Al’s name to either the Fellowship Baptist Church or to the HAM radio club.

A special thank you to all of Al’s friends, family, and his church family, especially, Pastor Brent Moodie, for all of their prayers, support and comfort that was shown to Al and Nancy during his final days.

Brainard Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Wausau is honored to assist Al’s family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.brainardfuneral.com.
