Betty Carol Christiansen

Our loving and caring mother, Betty Christiansen, 91, of Schofield WI, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, with family by her side.

Betty married Reuben Christiansen on November 14, 1953, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Schofield. Together, they built a life centered around dedication and hard work. They started, owned and operated Reuben Christiansen Trucking, a business that continued for many years, even after Reuben's passing.

Betty was a hard worker her entire life. She spent more than 40 years working for Bell, GTE, and Verizon telephone companies before retiring. Retirement didn't slow her down for long. She began volunteering at Bethesda where she spent many years helping others. After her volunteer hours were finished, she would often bring things home that needed a little extra attention. Buttons were sewn back on, clothes were repaired, stains were scrubbed, and everything was washed and ironed before being returned the next day.

Betty found plenty of joy in her kitchen, especially when there was baking to be done. She would make 10 loaves of bread at once, along with dinner rolls, pies, cookies, and just about anything else that caught her eye. She especially loved anything chocolate - her favorite - and was always willing to try a new recipe.

Betty also had a unique relationship with equipment. She was particularly hard on lawn mowers-just ask her son. Her thought was simple: put the blades as low as they would go and cut away. Vacuum cleaners didn't fare much better. She would go through three in a year, and we eventually lost count of how many she went through over the years.

In her later years, Betty became known for being what could only be described as "sweet and sassy." If asked to help with dishes or whether the vacuuming had been done, her answer might be, "You can do it," or simply, "I can do it tomorrow." These little sayings and moments are memories that the family will carry on with us.

Betty's greatest legacy will always be her family. She is survived by her children, Harlan & Mary Christiansen, Roni Kay & Ben Scherer; grandchildren Jason Christiansen, Nikki & Brendan Procter, Matt & Marilyn Scherer and Ryan Scherer; and great grandchildren Avery, Rhiot, Starla, Nathaniel, Jake, Logan and Charlie; and great great grandchild Jesse. Brother and sister in laws; Lorraine Moran, Judy & Butch Schickert, Joan & Ronnie Dombrowski, David & Bonnie Christiansen, and Faye & George Mosher.

She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben Christiansen (1975), grandson Josh Christiansen (2003); brother Gilbert Moran (2017); parents Cecil and Opal Moran; maternal parents Jacob and Margaret Christiansen. Brother and sister in laws; Christy & Joe Moratti, Shirley & Myron Albrent, Ronald & Ruth Christiansen, and Gordie & Anne Christiansen.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will take place at Brainard Funeral Home in Weston on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10-1 PM, with a service to follow. There will be a private family burial at Restlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, they took exceptional care of their mom during her time there, and went above and beyond for her and her family.
