Beverly Long

July 25, 1936 — September 12, 2025

Schofield

Our beloved mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt and friend, Beverly Jean Long, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Pride TLC in Weston, WI.

Bev was born at her parents' family farm on July 25, 1936, in Midland, IN to Clarence and Edith. She was the youngest of her siblings Art, Betty and John, all deceased.

She attended elementary school in Midland; until her family moved to Lafayette, IN. where she, in 1954, graduated from Jefferson High School. Bev went on to graduate with high honors from Purdue University in 1958 from the School of Math, Science and Humanities. In 1974, she received her Master's Degree, with high honors, in English from UW-Oshkosh.

On September 1, 1957, Bev married our dad, Jerry T. Long. They raised three children, Cindy, David and Peggy.

She taught English for 42 years in many towns: Joliet, IL; North Aurora/Aurora, IL; Kewanee, IL; and finally, for 28 years, she taught at Menasha High School in Menasha, WI. She was a beloved teacher no matter where she taught. She loved teaching and had wonderful memories of her students, co- workers and teaching experiences. She was very active in the Menasha Teacher's Union, becoming union Secretary and President.

Upon their retirement, Bev and Jerry traveled to many places, mostly out East, as dad was a serious genealogist. They always had fun and interesting stories when they returned. After dad passed away, mom, who was always ready for her next adventure, traveled with her adult children whenever she got the chance. She has been in many states; her favorite was Alaska. She loved National Parks and traveled to many. Finally, she traveled to Canada and its East Coast provinces, Ireland, Holland, Brazil, Caribbean Sea, countries in Latin America and South America-sailing through the Panama Canal. Through her travels, Bev was able to check off most of her bucket list wishes.

Bev was a beautiful sewist, prolific quilter and wonderful singer. In her lifetime, she made Cindy and Peggy's clothes, and once she started quilting, she made MANY beautiful quilts, wallhangings, and other quilt projects. Her favorite fabrics were the bright ones! We used to sing along with mom when she had the record player spinning, or while traveling in the car.

Bev moved to Weston, WI in 2019, made many friends, and became active in her new surroundings. She always had a smile on her face, was happy, optimistic, an inspiration to others, treated others with compassion and fairness, and was able to handle adverse situations well.

Once she was unable to live alone in her apartment, she resided at Pride TLC in Weston. Bev always said she received the best care, kindness and smiles from the staff. She considered them all family.

Towards the end of her life, Bev received Hospice Care and thought the world of Hospice staff who worked with her. Our family would like to give a HUGE thank you to Pride and Hospice staff. You all enriched her life in ways you'll never know.

Bev is survived by: Cindy (Randy) Greil, Peggy Long, and David (Eli) Long. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric, David, Katie, Victoria, Laura and Daniel and "adopted" grandchildren Matt, Travis and Jake (deceased). Mom's great grandchildren include: Thomas, Sophia, Lincoln, Cooper, Kamlin, Finn, Ellis, nieces and a nephew. Finally, Bev is survived by her best, furry friend, Snowball.

As church and her faith were always a very important part of her life, Bev's services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church in Weston, WI. with Visitation from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Her Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM. Pastor Jim Gates will officiate the service. Bev requested that all who attend or watch her service online to wear something bright, as she loved brightly colored clothes, especially red.

All guests are invited to a meal that will be served in the church's Fellowship Hall after the service.

Bev has requested that instead of flowers/plants, please make donations in her name to: Covenant Community Presbyterian Church: Christian Education.

If you are unable to attend, Bev's services will be live-streamed at www.brainardfuneral.com

Mom, we will miss you and we love you very much. See you in heaven.
