BJ Carden, a beloved soul known for her unwavering passion for reading, gardening, traveling, and all things crafty, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Weston, WI. Born on January 20, 1954, in Rhinelander, WI, B.J. lived a life filled with joy and compassion that touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Throughout her life, BJ found immense joy in the simple things - from tending to her garden, exploring new destinations, and creating beautiful needlework, to baking delectable treats. She used her skills as an Occupational Therapist during and after her decades long career to volunteer in her community.
BJ was an avid collector of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, and had an overwhelming knowledge of all things related to the movie and novel. She was willing to, at any time, talk for hours about a myriad of little-known facts about the story, and Judy Garland. Her love for the classic tale of the Wizard of Oz reflected her whimsical spirit and love for storytelling.
BJ will forever be cherished by her adoring spouse of 50 years, Ralph Carden, her children Stephen (Tamara) Carden and Emily (Ying Her) Carden, her precious grandchildren Brodie and Aubrie Her, as well as her niece Stephanie Hauenstein and grandniece Rebel Young. BJ is further survived by other relatives and friends. She shared the beautiful moments of her life with her family and friends, revealing the true depth of her loving and generous heart.
BJ was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Stephanie Stefonek and sister Barbara Stefonek.
There will be a memorial gathering held for BJ on Thursday, August 29 at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Ct., Weston from 10-11:45 am. A celebration of her life will follow at 12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in BJ's name may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Marathon County Humane Society.
BJ Carden may have left this world, but her spirit and essence will live on through the memories she left behind in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her. In her honor, let us remember the joy she brought, the kindness she showed, and the love she shared. BJ's presence will forever be missed, but her impact will never be forgotten.
