Christine Elizabeth Schult, 96, of Wausau, WI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief time at Marshfield Medical Center-Weston Hospital, Sunday, October 19, 2025. She remained in her own home for 70 years, until the recent hospitalization.
Born July 15, 1929, in the Town of Maine, WI, on the Family Farm. Born to Ernst and Wilhelmine Schult, the youngest of four girls: Ernstine 1914-’28, Hulda 1919 infant, and Anne 1921-2015. Baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Town of Maine in 1929.
Christine attended grade school at Red Granite (1-Room) School, until she, her mother and sister Anne moved to Wausau in August, 1941. She attended Zion Lutheran Church School on Grant Street downtown and Wausau High School on Fulton Street, graduating in 1947. Christine’s mother was the pillar of Faith for Christine and her sisters.
Christine worked 37.5 years at the Wausau News Agency, and moved to the Women’s Community before retiring. She experienced a wide range of events in her lifetime, spanning the Great Depression to the computer age, learning this “Contraption” working at the Women’s Community.
Christine loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her animals-especially her cats, her travels with Mom and Anne- especially to the South West U.S. and National Parks, and theater and the arts.
Decades of many friendships developed throughout Christine’s life interactions. Christine, her mother and Anna abundantly displayed old fashioned hospitality, kindness, and Christ-likeness. Hers was a life well lived.
Christine is survived by many distant cousins of multiple generations of Walters and Schults. Her ‘adoptive’ loving family Grant & Debbie, Vincent (Anne), Richelle (Dean) and Ruth (Ken). We would like to thank the following agencies and people: Interim Health Care, especially Tim, IRIS, Inclusa especially Juelle, TLC, especially Jeanette, and the many care givers and medical staff that have served Christine well over the years, especially Dr Hayak, Dr Tomasi, Drs Hattenhauer Sr & Jr, and Dr Gandy.
