Cody James Berens

Cody Berens, 32, of Rib Mountain, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

He was born on September 22, 1991, to Mike and Diane Berens in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Cody was many things in his lifetime. He loved sports. He played little league, football, and Gus Macker's basketball events. Not only was he a player of sports but he could rattle off names and stats of many players. As he grew, music became his passion. He performed and wrote many songs; it was his escape. 

Of all the things Cody loved, it was family and friends that he loved the most. He was a caring person to many and enjoyed helping others. Cody never hesitated to give someone a ride or a hand when he could. What he loved most in the world was his daughter, Trianna. They became father and daughter late in life but there was no less love between them. 

Cody will be deeply missed by many.

He is survived by his father, Mike Berens; daughter, Trianna Salas; sister, Shana (Brent) Duffy; uncles, Steven (Connie) Berens, and Rob (Ginger Donovan) Schweigel; aunts, Sue (Kevin) Kautza, Mary Berens, and Mary Schweigel; cousins, Elizabeth Berens (Jaustin Martinez), Drew Berens, Ashley Berens, Casey (Nicole) Kautza, Eric (April) Opper, Jared (Caroline) Chrudimsky, Jason Chrudimsky, Justin (Abi) Chrudimsky, and Shane Schweigel; second cousins, Addicyn, Jax, Ayla, Kenzie, Jaxton, Topher, Owen, Austin, Caleb, Ian, Bailey, Raymond, and Tanner.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane (Schweigel) Berens; paternal grandparents, James and Arvilla Berens; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Marion Schweigel; and an uncle, Andrew Berens. 

A memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
