Dennis Allen Barnes

On the evening of Tuesday December 6, 2022, Dennis A Barnes (73) passed away peacefully at his home in Three Lakes, Wisconsin. Dennis was born to the late Willian and Lillie (Keener) Barnes in Dellwood, Wisconsin. After graduating high school at the age of 18, Dennis enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly serving his country from February of 1968, through September of 1972. Dennis earned his Vietnam Service Metal and was a Security Policeman during the Vietnam War. Dennis was proud to be part of the Never Forgotten Honor Flight XXIV on May 16, 2016. 

A few short years after being honorably discharged, Dennis met Marge Geipel at a bowling tournament where he was scoring her game. They married on November 19, 1977, in Milwaukee, WI. After moving to Texas with their kids and he enjoyed family game nights and weekend family trips. In 1993, they moved back to Wisconsin and he enjoyed family fishing trips on the Three Lakes Chain. He also loved wildlife, hunting and watching sports. Our family will truly cherish the times we had together. 

Dennis is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marge Barnes; son Billy Barnes of Three Lakes, WI; daughter Christine (Jesse) Reinicke of Rothschild, WI; grandchildren Jessica and Robert Barnes; sisters-in-laws Judy (John) Huck of Richfield, WI and Carol Wojciechowski of Sussex, WI; brother-in-law Jerry (Sue) Geipel of Richfield, WI; Dennis's faithful service dog Delilah and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Warren Barnes; father-in-law Harvey Geipel; mother-in-law Caroline Geipel; sister-in-law Sharon Walters and brother-in-law Allen Wojciechowski. 

Funeral services for Dennis will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson Street, Weston. Visitation will be 9 AM - 11AM with a service beginning at 11 AM.

Burial with military honors will take place in April at St. Paul Cemetery in Colgate, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in Remembrance of Dennis A. Barnes.
