May 15, 1928 — March 25, 2024

Wausau

Ervin B. Huber, 95, of Wausau, passed away peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff at Primrose Retirement Community and St Croix Hospice on March 25, 2024.

Ervin was born on May 15, 1928 in Wausau, son of the late Ervin and Theresa (Lilly) Huber. He was a graduate of Wausau East High School, later graduating from Wausau Vocational School. During summers of his youth, Erv often spent time fishing on the shores of the Peshtigo River where his Uncle Jack ran a private hunting lodge.

Ervin was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict, notably this was the only time in his life he lived away from his beloved Wausau. He was stationed primarily in Morocco designing and building radio towers. During that time Erv had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and had many fond memories of his adventures.

Ervin worked most of his adult career in sales with Marmet Window Corporation traveling monthly to the East Coast including Boston, Chicago and New York developing window systems for large commercial buildings and high rises. He retired in 1990.

In retirement Erv enjoyed golfing almost every day. He loved traveling with friends and also going to see his sister, Bettie in San Diego, stopping frequently in Las Vegas both coming and going. He was a member of Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church and American Legion Post 10.

Ervin is survived by his sister, Bettie Cain of San Diego, nephew, Jeff Wendland of San Diego, nieces, Barbara (David) Snodgrass of San Diego and Judy (Bruce) Langhoff of Sun Prairie as well as several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Hartkopf and Arlyle Huber, and nephew, Robert Hartkopf. Ervin also is survived by two very special friends, Debra Leitermann and Horst Stasiak.

Erv always had a wonderful group of friends and associates that he’s known and shared good times with for many years! Everyone loved Erv and he will be dearly missed and never ever forgotten.

A Happy Hour Celebrating Erv with friends and family will be held Thursday, April 18th from 4-6 at Char Grill (formally known as City Grill) where Erv spent many hours sipping a Miller High Life and chatting with old friends and making new ones. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau with Military Honors. Brainard Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
