Gary Anthony Podjaski, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He was born December 4, 1945 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau to Anthony and Katherine (Wroblewski) Podjaski of Hatley.
Gary was raised on the family farm on Bass Lake Road, which he purchased from his mother after his father’s death. He graduated from Whittenberg High School in 1964. He enjoyed snowmobiling and shooting pool.
Gary married Judith “Judy” Ziegel on October 22, 1977 at Saint Florian’s Catholic Church in Hatley. They farmed until 1987 when they moved to Kronenwetter, later building a home in Weston, WI. He retired from J&D Tube Benders in Weston in 2015.
After retirement he struggled with Parkinson’s and Alzheimers, but still enjoyed working outside on his lawn and taking walks to visit with neighbors and anyone he met along the way. He most enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball.
Gary is survived by his wife Judy; son, Tony (Jennifer) Podjaski, of Marathon; daughter, Tracy (Mark) Fenske, of Tigard, Oregon; grandchildren, Allison and Harvey, of Marathon; sister, Yvonne Shakula, of Hales Corners; brother, Donald Podjaski, of Weston; brother-in-law, Lyle (Patty) Ziegel, of Wausau; sister-in-law, Marie Podjaski, of Ringle; godson, Mark Shakula, of Milwaukee, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Harry and Audrey Ziegel, brother, Myron Podjaski and brother-in-law, David Shakula.
A mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Florian’s Catholic Church, 500 Church Lane Rd, Hatley, WI, 54440, on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. Before the service there will be a visitation at church from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. Burial will follow services at Saint Florian’s Catholic Cemetery.
