With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of JoAnn "Joie" Mae Hintz, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed from this world on September 4, 2024. Born on December 1, 1937, in Wausau, WI. JoAnn was a devoted mother to her children Laurie (Jim) Bornowski, William (Will Roach) Hintz, Robert (Paula) Hintz, Jonathan Hintz, and Tina (Tim) Spees. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jerret Parker, Ashlee Huempfner, Broc Hintz, Mitch Hintz, Calli Paro, Leah Klein, David Hintz, Samantha Johnson, Michael Wischmeyer, and Savannah Spees; each of whom held a special place in her heart. In addition to her immediate family, JoAnn is survived by her sister, Carol Apfelbeck, brothers David and Steve Nielsen, as well as 20 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends who held her close in their hearts.
Preceded in death by her husband, William Hintz.
Joie and Bill owned Roto Graphic Printing and Hintz's North Star Lodge and enjoyed working at both. Throughout her life, JoAnn found joy in spending time up north at Star Lake, WI creating lasting memories with her family. She was an active member of the Willing Workers at Grace United Church of Christ, where she shared her culinary talents, particularly renowned for her delightful chicken noodle soup that she graciously prepared for countless events.
A visitation for JoAnn will be held on Wednesday, September 11 at Grace United Church of Christ, 535 S. 3rd Ave, from 9:30 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:30 am.
