JoAnn Maul

JoAnn Marie Maul, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025 at Aspires Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin

JoAnn was born on April 30, 1939 in Houghton, MI to Katherine (Butkovich) Hill. JoAnn graduated from Hancock High School and received her RN degree in New York State. JoAnn married Donald Maul of Flint, Michigan on August 20, 1960 and they went on to raise two daughters. JoAnn and Don lived in cities in California, Michigan and Wisconsin, spending their final years in Wisconsin. JoAnn enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing scrabble with her mom and sister, and cooking for family. She was an excellent cook. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Thank you to the caregivers that showed kindness and compassion.

JoAnn was survived by daughters Robina Maul and Marcel Maul, grandchildren Laurea Maul, Ethan Bielby and Cole Bielby, great granddaughter Delaney Maul, her sister Sylvia “Cookie” Datto and many other relatives, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Maul in 2020, her mother Katherine Hill in 1999 and niece Tina Frantila in 2023.

JoAnn was laid to rest on August 1, 2026 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton, Michigan next to her mother Katherine and her sister Sylvia who passed in December 2025. Father Corey Litzner of St Ignatius church provided the graveside service. Thank you to all who attended.
