Mosinee

John Schremp, 74, passed away peacefully at North Crest in Stevens Point, under the care of St. Croix Hospice, on April 20, 2026.

He was born in Antigo, WI, the second oldest of Herb and Verna Schremp. He graduated from Mosinee High School.

He attended Marquette University, graduating in Civil Engineering along with a masters in Structural Engineering. He met his wife, Mary, through the Marquette chorus. They married August 19, 1972, 18 months to the day after their first date.

They owned and operated Architectural Products of Wausau (APW) for 36 years, moving to the area from Seattle. He was well known in the state for putting up many hospitals, airports, and UW buildings. He enjoyed doing box luncheons with his daughter, Jennifer.

John employed many and was grateful for their help, especially his office manager, Shelley Rahlf and his project manager, Chad Patoka.

He coached both girls and boys soccer teams. John was active in Indian Guides and Indian Princesses. We as a family spent countless hours boating, both in Seattle and on Lake DuBay. He was active in high school musicals and the Mosinee community theater. He loved gardening with his daughter, Kristen, and attending the grandkids events was always special. One of his favorite things was watching the glorious sunsets over Lake DuBay.

The family wishes to thank the staff at North Crest in Stevens Point and the St. Croix Hospice team, along with Dr. Onitilo, Dr. Fox. And Dr. Evans, for giving him 5 more years.

A special thanks to Father Jim Trempe for his many visits. Thank you to his brother, Bill, his sister, Sandy and Mary’s brother, Tom, for their support.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 53 years, daughters: Jennifer Schremp of Appleton, WI and Kristen Schremp (Sean Johnson) of Neenah, WI, grandchildren: Hannah, Alex and Ryan Heran, along with Addisyn Schremp. He is further survived by his brother, Bill (Kelly) Schremp, sisters: Sandra Jacobson (Tom Hecox) and Connie (Rory) McKellips, brother-in-law: Thomas Rader, sister-in-laws: Karen (Steve) Schremp Schinker and Cheri Schremp (Ken Kamenick) and many nieces and nephews.
