Joseph "John" Tulickas

Joesph "John" Tulickas, born in Wausau, Wisconsin on September 29, 1954, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2025. John, as he was affectionately called, died from a heart attack while asleep for an afternoon nap. Those who knew John will remember him for his wide-ranging, and at times inappropriate sense of humor, as he would say with a smile on his face he did not care who anyone was or where they came from; he hated everyone equally! However, the truth was he would help anyone he could and he was a softy at heart hoping to get a laugh.

John is survived by his wife Linda Tulickas, his two children, John and Rachael Tulickas, and his two grandchildren, Michael Tulickas and Marcela Gonzaelz-Tulickas. He had an extended/inherited family that included Amiyah Knoblock, Danniyelle Knoblock, Nina Gonzalez, Fabian Gonzalez, Sofia Widowski, and the families they created. He cared for them as if they were his own. There is no doubt John will now watch over and guide the people he left.

After graduating Wausau West High School he worked at Murray's Foundry and Graphic Packaging where he retired. He worked hard to make sure his family never went without while teaching his children about how important it is to have a strong work ethic, and staying true to their word. Outside of work he enjoyed being with his family. He liked watching movies and Westerns on television. He liked reading historical books and magazines, and appreciated the statement, "Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." He never served in the military but had a deep admiration for the men and women who served and continue to serve and honor our country. John collected coins, JFK memorabilia, and loved watching sports. He particularly enjoyed watching "America's Team," known as the Dallas Cowboys and prepared for the team to win Super Bowl as soon as the season began.

He made every effort to respect others and keep other people's thoughts and opinions in mind while trying to stay focused on doing the right and fair thing. He had an ability to acknowledge different points of view as he would often say, "No matter how thin the pancake, it always has two sides."

He will forever be loved and missed!

We would like to acknowledge the Wausau EMTs, the fire department, and police officers for all of their efforts, and doing everything they could trying to create a different outcome. We will always be grateful!
