Lynda Kay Overgaard

On August 26, 2026, the world became a little quieter, a lot less vibrant, and infinitely less interesting. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynda Overgaard, 75, at Marshfield Hospital.

Lynda grew up as the middle child of Duane and Virginia in Racine, Wisconsin. She was a beloved sister to Sharon and Gayla. Lynda ventured out into the world to make her mark, leaving Racine to earn her degree in Psychology. One of her favorite stories during this time was how she traded her stereo for a Volkswagen Beetle that she made road-trip ready with her style and craftiness. During this time, she met her devoted husband, Jack, at the University of North Dakota, and they eventually returned to Wisconsin to settle down. Jack and Lynda worked together for 51 beautiful years. During that time they bonded over their projects, gardens, children, and love for each other. According to Lynda in one of her final conversations, he was “pretty much perfect.”

Lynda was hardworking and always on the go, never afraid to explore a new opportunity. She taught piano, worked as an aide at the Mosinee Elementary School, and worked sporting events supporting her husband at D.C. Everest High School. Lynda's creativity shined through her various crafts, quilts, scrapbooking, and gardening displays. She cherished her visits with friends and sharing her much loved coffee cakes, chocolate chip cookies, and other delights. Her love for her children knew no bounds as she visited them from coast to coast in the United States as well as Asia and South America.

Lynda was a devoted mother to Ryan Overgaard, Angel Overgaard, and Will Davis, whom she thought of like a son. She was a committed and loving mother-in-law to Carrie and Robert, and grandmother to Porter, Alyssa, and Kaitlyn. Lynda's compassion and love for others extended beyond her family to her friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. Her quick wit, good natured teasing, and laughter will be greatly missed.

Her legacy extends far beyond her family and friends to those she educated in the medical field and individuals she supported in battling similar health issues to her own. She set an example of advocacy and perseverance through impossible situations with intellectual curiosity, grit, and grace.

The Lord has called her home where she now continues her journey alongside her beloved parents, nieces, brother-in-law, and other family and friends who went before her. Though our hearts ache with her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved and has found her eternal peace.
