Marisa Marie Oliva passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, May 9th, 2026.
Born on September 3, 1989, to Tony and Julie Oliva, Marisa lived life in a way that was uniquely her own. She was funny, stubborn, loving, hardworking, and unforgettable to everyone who knew her. She had a beautiful smile, a huge heart, and a personality that could fill any room. And while she was famously always running late, she was always there when the people she loved truly needed her.
More than anything, Marisa loved her two boys, Jaxson Anthony Furger and Cameron Daniel Oliva. They were her greatest pride, her deepest love, and the center of her world. Being their mom brought her the greatest happiness in life. She also adored her beloved cat, Kylo, who was truly part of the family and brought her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.
Marisa spent many years working alongside her family at Carmelo’s and most recently at Oliva’s at Gulliver’s Landing. No matter where she worked, she worked hard and cared deeply about the people around her. She shared countless memories, laughs, and long days with family, friends, and coworkers who became family.
Like many, Marisa faced personal struggles in life, but through it all she continued to love deeply and care fiercely for those around her. Her family chooses to remember the loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who meant so much to so many.
She is survived by her parents, Tony and Julie Oliva; her beloved sons, Jaxson Anthony Furger and Cameron Daniel Oliva; her sisters, Kim (Chris) Garski and Amanda (Jesse) Riege; her nephews, Evan, Jacob, and David Riege; her paternal grandmother, Joan Oliva; her maternal grandfather, Ken (Polly) Day; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ellen Day; her paternal grandfather, Carmelo Oliva; and her uncle, Frank Oliva.
The loss of Marisa leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, but her love, laughter, and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 17th, 2026 from 10am-2pm at Carmelo’s Restaurant located at 149841 Cty Rd NN, Wausau, WI 54401. For those who would like to attend, shirts of green may be worn in honor of Marisa’s favorite color. In lieu of flowers, there will be a donation box at Marisa’s Celebration of Life.
