On March 14, 2026, Marjorie D. Nimz, age 99, of Wausau, Wisconsin passed away. She has gone to meet the love of her life, Lynn M. Nimz, who died in 2011.
Surviving family members include two children, Holly (Dan) Bembenek, Scott (Peggy) Nimz and daughter-in-law Kris Nimz. Grandchildren include Sara (Mike) Ogurek, Lisa Nimz and Ryan Nimz. Great-grandchildren include Jered and Jake Ogurek. Sister-in-law Lilly Buchholz along with nieces and nephews, survive.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her son, Gerald and brother, Bob Buchholz. Marjorie's (Marge's) long life was filled with well-known attributes in sewing, crafting, cooking and master gardening.
She crafted teddy bears from reclaimed mink coats, baked specialty cakes for weddings and anniversaries, and grew every type of orchid imaginable. In later years, her gardening focused on tomatoes, growing "just a few plants from seeds" to giving away over fifty plants every spring. She volunteered and served the DAV, the Talent Shop, Meals on Wheels, and St. Stephen Church circles. She loved the sunshine and her backyard wildlife. Spending time up north and visiting a casino were travels she considered "therapy".
In later years she enjoyed phone calls and visits, whether planned or a surprise. She also appreciated getting precious cards, especially the ones Mickey sent her. She kept in touch with her former neighbors Diana and Pam, enjoyed her visits with Pastor Jen, Ryan and his breakfast sandwiches, and groundskeepers Jack and Linda. She exchanged daily phone calls with her late friend Betty. She often joked about seeing friends at the "imaginary" Charlie's Bar. Perhaps her earthly name for heaven, we hope to meet her there one day for her homemade potato salad, peanut bars, and delicious lemon meringue pie.
A private interment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
