Michael Ferguson

Michael Ferguson, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on August 31st, 2025. Michael was born on September 17th, 1989, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Michael Ferguson and Burnay (Schroeder) Ferguson. He grew up with a strong sense of family, a generous heart, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. On May 12th, 2012, Michael joined hands in marriage with Laura Mortenson of Birnamwood, WI, at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church in Weston, WI. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership built on love, laughter, and mutual respect. Michael was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He graduated from D.C. Everest in 2008. He had a passion for archery, golf, fishing, hunting, softball and participating in coaching his two sons in their various sports. Michael was known for his caring and passionate personality. Whether spending time with loved ones or lending a hand to someone in need, Michael lived his life with purpose and compassion.

He is survived by his loving wife Laura Ferguson, Sons Owen and Levi Ferguson, Parents, Michael and Burnay Ferguson, Grandmother Mary Ferguson, Father and Mother In Law, Jerome and Joanie Mortenson, Siblings, Ashley (David) Russ, Amber Ferguson, Sisters in Law, Betsy (Will) Cummings, Heidi (Aaron) Clark, Nephews, Calvin and Braxton, Nieces Aleah, Aubrey, Sophia, Ember, and Ava amongst many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. 

He was preceded in death by Grandfathers David Ferguson and Gary Schroeder, and Grandmother Sue Schmoldt.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held on Sunday September 14th at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court Weston, WI, with visitation beginning at 12pm with service to follow at 2pm, We please ask that flowers or memorial contributions be sent to Brainard Funeral Home.

Michael will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
