Michael J. Klussendorf of Wausau, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 74. His family was blessed to be by his side, along with caring chaplains, during his final day.
Mike's character was forged early on his family's dairy farm, where he learned the grit and determination that would define him throughout his life. His courage, tenacity, and refreshing candor made him unforgettable. These qualities shone through his professional achievements, his fierce devotion to family, and his unwavering faith.
After graduating from Mukwonago High School, Mike earned his accounting degree from UW-Whitewater and his CPA certification, launching into a career that brought him deep satisfaction. He possessed a rare combination of sharp financial insight and visionary leadership, earning admiration for his loyalty and his knack for getting things done. Mike never shied away from challenging the status quo when he saw a chance to build something better. With characteristic directness and pride, he'd point to projects around town and declare with a grin, "We made the steel for that."
Family was Mike's greatest treasure. Once his career was established, he made it his priority to be present. He found joy in tending his beloved garden and lawn, walking the family dog, finding peace in quiet moments in nature. He rarely missed a Packer or Badger game, but his favorite sidelines were always at his daughters' sporting events, where his enthusiastic cheering could be heard above the crowd.
Mike's Christian faith ignited during his college years and burned brightly throughout his life. He answered his calling as an earnest disciple of Christ, leading groups with passion and living out his commitment to community stewardship. He generously gave his time and wisdom to church and nonprofit boards. He was always driven by his simple but powerful philosophy: leave things better than you found them.
Mike grew up with siblings Rob Klussendorf, Cheryl Almberg, Helen Leenhouts and Jill Bacon. He was married to Katie for 48 years. His daughters are Beth/Rob, Bekah/Liz, Heather/ Lee and Jordan/Myles. He has six grandchildren: Sefton, Eden, Julian, Vivian, Dean and Lawrence.
