Mildred “Milly” Mary Anne Pries, age 87, returned home to Heaven on Saturday, December 27, 2025, while residing at The Homeplace of Stanley assisted living residence.
Mildred was born in Antigo, Wisconsin on April 8th, 1938. Mildred was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Adams) Brandt, who resided in Bryant, a rural area outside of Antigo. Milly married Harry Otto Henry Pries on August 24th, 1957, with whom she shared many years of marriage and built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
Milly graduated from Antigo High School and then resided in Bryant, WI., and Antigo, WI before moving to Wausau where she and Harry lived until Harry’s passing in 2015. While in Wausau, Milly worked for Marathon County Social Services and was then a housewife. Milly then moved to Cadott, WI, where she resided on her own until 2024, when she moved to The Homeplace of Stanley. Mildred enjoyed dancing, playing cards, listening to Elvis Presley music, watching old TV sitcoms & game shows, and working on crossword and word search puzzles. She enjoyed talking with her longtime friends on the phone and cherished their friendships. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, simplicity and devotion to her family.
Milly’s memory lives on through her family, sons’ David (Paula) Pries of Wausau, WI; Daryl (Theresa) Pries of Cadott, WI & grandchildren: Jackie Pries of St. Paul, MN; Justin (Amanda) Pries of Marshal & Dylan (Lindsey) Pries of Wausau, WI, along with Lucy, Marci, Vinny & Gigi Pries of Cadott; and great grandchildren Oliver & Eloise Pries of Wausau & Aubrey & Cooper Pries of Marshall, WI.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Harry (March 19th, 2015); Milly’s parents, Frederick & Anna (Adams) Brandt; parents-in-law Otto & Selma (Brennecke) Pries & brother Elmer Brandt of Antigo; brother-in-law Wilhelm (Bill) & Nancy Pries of Salem, Oregon & Vince & sister-in-law Marie Furlott of Salem, Oregon.
Family and friends can honor Milly on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Townline Road, Wausau, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor David Wetmore.
Harry and Mildred will be laid to rest together with their deceased dog, Opie, this Spring at Northwoods National Cemetery, 4520 Lakewood Road, Harshaw, WI., at a date to be determined.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at The Homeplace of Stanley assisted living residences for their compassionate care and companionship, also to St. Croix Hospice for providing in-home healthcare services.
