Richard (Dick) J. Austin, 89, of Rib Mountain, passed away June 10, 2026 at Aspirus Hospice House. Dick was born August 11, 1936 in Sturgeon Bay, WI and moved to Wausau in 1956 to attend Wausau Vocational School. Dick was an avid golfer and fan of the Packers and Brewers. He also enjoyed a good Friday fish fry and morning coffee with the guys at The Red Apple and Mosinee Cafe. As a memorial to his late wife, Dick provided the vision and drive that resulted in the creation of Sandy's Bark Park in Rib Mountain.

He is survived by his son, Jeff (Jennifer) Austin of Minocqua; his sister, Jayne (Mark) Baumann; nieces and nephews, Jon (Dawn) Marsh, Julie (Randy) LeMieux, all from Sturgeon Bay and Jacob Baumann of Plover. He is also survived by friend Mary Cole of Rib Mountain and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; brother, John; and parents, Walter and Lucille.

In keeping with Dick's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Humane Society of Marathon County or Aspirus Hospice House where he received the best of care.
