Roger Louis Sandquist

Roger Louis Sandquist, 84, of Wausau, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at University Hospital in Madison.

Roger was born April 3, 1942 to the late Marvin and Hazel Sandquist. He grew up in the countryside outside of Wausau and was the big brother to Karen(John), Lyle(the late Sherry) ,and the late Rose Marie. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served overseas in England and North Africa.

He was a man of unwavering commitment to everything in his life. He married Karen Lehman on September 2, 1967 and remained devoted to her until the end. 

He worked at Wisconsin Box for 43 years until he retired in 2009.

He was greatly involved in the lives of his only child, Lisa, and his 4 grandchildren, Isabella, Dailey, AJ, and Taylor. He loved the Brewers and the Packers and watched nearly every game. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles and had amassed quite a collection. Most of all, he never failed to give a wide smile and a laugh to everyone he met.

He was very grateful to everyone who helped him as he struggled with his health in recent years , with a special thanks to his nephew, Randy, who provided a helping hand whenever called.

A funeral service for Roger will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams Street, Wausau, WI. A pastor from Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
