With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosemarie Dolores Hoenisch, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, who left this world on November 8, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on August 8, 1929, in Wausau, to George and Erika (Schoenrock) Lerch, Rosemarie embodied the spirit of love and resilience, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As a small child, Rosemarie moved to the idyllic town of Minocqua, where she flourished amid nature's beauty before returning to Wausau during her middle school years. She later attended Carol College in Waukesha, nurturing her inquisitive mind while maintaining a heart dedicated to family and community. She married Ernest Hoenisch on March 14, 1949, in Waukeegan, IL. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2009. As a homemaker, she tirelessly created a warm and welcoming home, filled with laughter, love, and countless memories for her five children: Linda, Greg, Randy, Todd, and Grant.
Rosemarie's legacy is enriched by her deep love for her family. A long-time member of Grace United Church of Christ, her faith was a guiding light, shaping her values and inspiring those around her to embrace kindness and compassion.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Mark) Mattice, Greg (Sandy) Hoenisch, Randy (Kim) Hoenisch, and Todd (Missy) Hoenisch; sister, Analee Mucha; brother, Tim (Pat) Lerch; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; parents, George and Erika; son, Grant; and granddaughter, Sara.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2026 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Marathon County or Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Care Partners and Interim Health Hospice for their care and compassion.
