Ardis was called home at the age of 90, Thursday, May 10, 2018, under the care of Hospice in Wausau, Wisconsin. Gaywood "Ardis" Neitzke was born October 31, 1927 at home at 366 Sturgeon Eddy Road, Wausau, Wisconsin, but the doctor didn't get there until the day turned to November 1, 1927, and that is what he signed on the Birth Certificate. Her parents were Otto Friedrich Wilhelm Neitzke and Juliana Olga (Bauer). She had rheumatic fever as a child. She attended John Marshall Elementary School and graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1946. Her father was a building contractor, so he built, he sold, they moved, he built, he sold, they moved... The family, since Ardis' birth, lived in the South East Neighborhood of Wausau. Her brothers Lawrence and Roland were 20 and 19 years older than she. The family attended the Bible Church. She spent summers up at High Lake working in the family resort. She was a partner with Herb Schubring in the American Motors car dealership, which was known as the Wausau Garage on First Street. Ardis married Robert James Schneider February 14, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wausau. Their children are Karen Janet Schneider and John Ray Schneider. Bob and Ardis divorced April 3, 1950. Ardis married Arthur Frederick Schubring Jr. April 18, 1957 in Ramsey County, St. Paul, Minnesota at St. Paul's Evangelical Church. Their children are Arthur Frederick Schubring III, David Alan Schubring, and Mark Steven Schubring. The Schubring family attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wausau. The family had cottages on Lake Mohawksin in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and spent many summer weekends "up north." Ardis and Art played cards with a group of friends. They wintered in Fort Myers, Florida and South Padre Island, Texas. Ardis' holiday meals always finished with a "new" dessert she was dying to try out on her guests. One year she decided the annual candy canes on the tree needed to be dealt with, and crushed them into a dessert. She loved having a house dog, generally a poodle. When you placed a call to their residence, Art answered and he would always say, "Let me get the Boss." Ardis is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Karen (John) Koeppen of Sarasota, Florida; granddaughters, Julie (Paul) Baranek and great grandchildren Nathan, Leah, and Andrew of DePere, Wisconsin; and Amy (David) Lewis of Sarasota, Florida. John (Nancy Taves) Schneider of Wausau; grandchildren, John (Lisa Sann) Schneider and great grandson Wesley, with step great grandchildren Joshua, Alyssa, and Zachary of Wausau; Rana (Gene) Gunderson, and great grandchildren Hannah of South Carolina, Gabriella, Brock, and Trinity of Midland, Georgia; Moses (Shannon Meade) Schneider and great grandchildren Jonathon and Meredith, and Moses' former wife Karla (Wiskowski) and great grandson Brauley all of Wausau. Arthur (Pamela Slick died 2004) Schubring III of Waunakee, granddaughters Cassandra of Texas, and Alexandria. David Schubring (Lori Matzke divorced), grandchildren Jayme, Connor, and Coleton of Wausau. Mark (Barbara Waldvogel) Schubring of Kronenwetter, grandsons Tyler and Travis. Ardis is also survived by her brother Lawrence and Frances (Haffeman) Neitzke's children: Lawrence (Mary Donovan died 2006) Neitzke; Lou Ann Hotchkiss-Schlei (Robert Schlei died 2008); John (died 1999) (Marjorie Feith) Neitzke; Arleigh (Constance Maltbey) Neitzke; Andrea (Jack) Richmond; and Carolyn (Jim) Zielsdorf. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marion (Schubring) (Jack died 2017) Nelmark of Arizona. Ardis is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Schubring II (died 2012); father Otto (died 1952) and mother Juliana (died 1960) (Bauer) Neitzke; brother Roland Neitzke (died 1934); brother Lawrence (died 1996) and Frances (died 2003) Neitzke; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur (died 1968) and Elsa (died 1979) (Bartz) Schubring; and her maternal grandparents Andreas (died 1925) and Christina (died 1929) (Klietz) Bauer; and paternal grandparents August (died 1932) and Sophia (died 1938) (Moellendorf) Neitzke. The funeral ceremony will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 426 Washington St, Wausau on Thursday, May 24 at 11am, with a visitation from 10am until the time of service. She will be buried next to her husband, Arthur Schubring II, in Pine Grove Cemetery.
